Fontefico is an organic boutique winery overlooking the Gulf of Vasto, in the southernmost part of the Abruzzo coast, where the salt wind of the Adriatic make mineral and savory wines, with an uncommon structure and longevity. About 37 acres of only indigenous grape varieties, such as Pecorino or Trebbiano, run by the two brothers Nicola and Emanuele Altieri, who since 25 years ago have aimed for uncompromising quality beyond any fashion of the moment. Single vineyard wines with unique characteristics. Hence each vineyard has its own identity shown on the label. So Pecorino Superiore is “La canaglia” (the rascal), because the vineyard is spiteful, it doesn’t allow to be tamed, but then it is forgiven by giving a superlative white wine. Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is the "Cocca di casa” (princess of the house), because this is, after all, the favorite grape. And so on, each vineyard an identity and each wine a character. Harvest after harvest, each character is drawn differently to tell an anecdote of that vintage. Hence putting together the bottles of the various vintages and the various wines, you can read the story of Fontefico. A story that speaks of terroir and authenticity.
Le tenute Vini Naviganti si trovano nel cuore dell'Italia in Abruzzo, tra il Mare Adriatico e il massiccio della Majella. La tenuta di 15 ettari si estende sulle colline in prossimità della costa dove il terreno è relativamente omogeneo; la composizione è prevalentemente di piccole dimensioni, con profondo terreno roccioso sulla cima delle colline e un terreno prevalentemente misto-argilloso più a valle verso il mare. Il suo vino proviene prevalentemente da vigneti esposti ad Est/Sud. Il sole, il clima mediterraneo e il , battuto dalla brezza marina che spazza via l’umidità, favoriscono l’impianto di vitigni autoctoni D.O.C e I.G.P tipici della Regione. Questi elementi forti si sentono nel sapore pieno del vino di questa terra. Le colline che si trovano tra le foci dei fiumi Sangro e Sinello, fanno da corona ad una costa verdeggiante. Le spiagge e le scogliere sono intervallate dalle tipiche palafitte dei pescatori dette “Trabocchi” e da una serie di porti naturali ideali per la pesca e le relazioni commerciali, mentre il terreno fertile ha favorito gli insediamenti umani e la coltivazione delle viti autoctone. Numerose e preziose vestigia testimoniano la presenza dell’uomo dal neolitico, passando poi alle civiltà italiche e romane e, più tardi, alle comunità laiche e monastiche medioevali attraverso varie dominazioni fino ad arrivare a quella borbonica prima dell’unità d’Italia. The Vini Naviganti estates are located in the heart of Italy in Abruzzo, between the Adriatic Sea and the Majella massif. The 15 hectare estate extends over the hills near the coast where the terrain is relatively homogeneous; the composition is mainly small, with deep rocky terrain on the top of the hills and a predominantly mixed-clayey soil further downstream towards the sea. Its wine mainly comes from vineyards facing east / south. The sun, the Mediterranean climate and the, beaten by the sea breeze that blows away the humidity, favor the planting of native D.O.C and I.G.P vines typical of the Region. These strong elements are felt in the full flavor of the wine of this land. The hills that lie between the mouths of the Sangro and Sinello rivers form the crown of a verdant coast. The beaches and cliffs are interspersed with the typical stilt houses of the fishermen called "Trabocchi" and a series of natural harbors ideal for fishing and commercial relations, while the fertile soil has favored human settlements and the cultivation of native vines. Numerous and precious vestiges testify to the presence of man from the Neolithic period, then to the Italic and Roman civilizations and, later, to the secular and monastic medieval communities through various dominations up to the Bourbon one before the unification of Italy. In these wonderful places we produce a range of white, red and rosé wines respecting all the processes of viticulture, bio-dynamic production and green economy, which, thanks to an extraordinary quality, are sold in over 25 countries.

Tenuta Secolo IX welcomes you to this place steeped in history, whose age-old traditions have supported and still support local winegrowers, and guaranteeing authentic quality. At the foot of Mount Morrone, in the heart of Abruzzo, Europe’s green region of monumental mountains that soar skywards and plunge deep into plush valleys with their many ancient villages, the landscape rolls as far as the sea. The quality, attention to detail and care that characterize our processing of raw materials, make our wines unique and enhance convivial moments of all kinds, making them matchless sensory experiences tinged with magical flavours; the estate is located east of the Tre Monti gullies created by the River Pescara, and more precisely on the slopes of Mount Morrone, between the villages of Castiglione a Casauria and Tocco da Casauria, a district known since ancient times for its special climate and soils. Constant breezy currents in the morning and evening mean days are warm with clear skies and nights are cool and dry. The features of the clay and limestone soils are enhanced by this microclimatic and endow the wines with a sensory profile found nowhere else in the world. Tenuta Secolo IX builds its bond with the past of these lands by adopting local winegrowing traditions and winemaking methods while applying state-of-the-art technologies to these traditions and methods to enrich the grape and wine quality. Interaction, development and social ethics with respect to nature are the underpinning of this new reality.
We are based in Abruzzo, one of the most interesting italian productive areas, and spend the greatest part of our time working on the vineyards and carefully following the ageing of our wines. We concentrate our efforts focusing the production on the native varietals and do any effort to keep alive a strong connection with our history and our tradition. Vines sorround the winery in an area of about 10 km2, are grown from 200 mt to 450 mt of altitude on a clay soil, rich in oligoelements such as magnesium, potassium and calcium, ideal condition to transfer to our wines intense cromatism, perfume and taste. Our approach is to produce authentic wines, with competitive value for money, in most cases with lower So2, certified organic if required and with a low foot print impact. Quality, personality and originality of our wines are then a natural consequence of our ethic. Ethic and environment are two elements we do care of, so in our company we minimize emissions, preserve our lands and follow environmental sustainability policies.

Our agricultural smallholding was founded in 1918 by our grandfather on his return from America. Since 2003 the entire farm area has been used as a vineyard, where only the typical local vines of this area are grown. Using only organic grapes we produce natural wines with spontaneous fermentation and low sulphite content.

VADDINELLI HISTORY Vaddinelli winery started the production of red and white wines in 2004. The farm is situated in the center of Teramo hillside in Abruzzo. The farm extends over 12.000 sq.m area and the winery produces 6.000 bottle only each year. The winery production adheres to organic principles and yearly harvest is the outcome of natural seasonal events.

La Vinarte is a family-run company founded in 1951. Each member has a particular role within the company. Filippo, together with his irreplaceable wife Filomena, continued the business started by his parents Vito and Sabia. He planted a lot of new vineyards creating the right conditions for the current activity. This priceless heritage has been passed down to his four sons: Vito deals with the management and advertising, Luciano is the skilled winegrower, Domenico is the trained winemaker and Paola designs labels and looks after the wine shop. The soul of our wines is represented by the vineyards, about 20 hectares. The most important wine grape variety of our estates is Montepulciano, which occupies most of the vineyard area. Other important red and white wine grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pecorino, Trebbiano and Montonico. Our philosophy is to produce every wine respecting nature and traditions, conbining them with the latest technologies.

Bosco Nestore Winery is one of the oldest winery in Abruzzo. Born in the 1897 is now located in Nocciano, between the Gran Sasso and the Majella mountains. The winery offers a wide variatel of grapes and many different style of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo red wines. Astonishing is the tour of the winery through the wine life in Abruzzo, expecially the visit of the underground tunnels where hundred thousands bottles are stored for aging and the museum of viticulture.
