Fontefico

Fontefico is an organic boutique winery overlooking the Gulf of Vasto, in the southernmost part of the Abruzzo coast, where the salt wind of the Adriatic make mineral and savory wines, with an uncommon structure and longevity. About 37 acres of only indigenous grape varieties, such as Pecorino or Trebbiano, run by the two brothers Nicola and Emanuele Altieri, who since 25 years ago have aimed for uncompromising quality beyond any fashion of the moment. Single vineyard wines with unique characteristics. Hence each vineyard has its own identity shown on the label. So Pecorino Superiore is “La canaglia” (the rascal), because the vineyard is spiteful, it doesn’t allow to be tamed, but then it is forgiven by giving a superlative white wine. Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is the "Cocca di casa” (princess of the house), because this is, after all, the favorite grape. And so on, each vineyard an identity and each wine a character. Harvest after harvest, each character is drawn differently to tell an anecdote of that vintage. Hence putting together the bottles of the various vintages and the various wines, you can read the story of Fontefico. A story that speaks of terroir and authenticity.

Every Fontefico wine is a single vineyard wine, estate-bottled and totally produced in our “Azienda Agricola”. The identity of each wine is preserved and, at the same time, it evolves harvest after harvest. We are an organic farm, as we deeply care about the environment. In the cellar, we just wait for the wine to be ready to express itself.
Every wine tells about our territory in its own way.
Every wine has its own authentic personality, that evolves at every harvest.
