La storia della famiglia Amerio inizia dal bisnonno Giovanni Battista, che nella cascina di Sant’Antonio, sulle splendide colline delle Langhe Astigiane produceva un vino dolce... e una nobile, austera e robusta Barbera d’Asti. Il suo soprannome, «Giaj» (in dialetto piemontese rosso di capelli) è servito alle generazioni successive per identificare vini dal carattere unico, legati indissolubilmente alla qualità della loro zona di provenienza. L’attaccamento alle proprie radici e lo spirito di affermare una precisa ed autonoma identità hanno spinto Carlo e poi Luciano e Giancarlo Amerio a proporre la loro tradizione e un personale stile dando vita ad una azienda agricola che ha sede nell’antica cascina di Sant’Antonio. La cura particolare alla vite, una vendemmia attenta alla salute di ogni grappolo, una vinificazione che si attiene alle tecniche più moderne, sono solo alcune delle caratteristiche legate a questi vini di alta qualità. Dieci ettari vitati regalano pregio al Moscato «Cà dù Giaj», Barbera d’Asti «Cà dù Giaj» e Oubliè «Cà dù Giaj». Il cuore dell’azienda, che ha le sue cantine in Canelli, resta la cascina di Sant’Antonio. Qui, la vita è più vera, e oltre a Luciano, Armanda e Giancarlo oggi a raccontare una storia di quattro generazioni legate al vino c’è Edoardo, giovane e prossimo futuro di un’azienda agricola che non smette di credere e prodigarsi nella cura dei vigneti di famiglia. Le viti vengono trattate con estrema cura, attenzione e nel rispetto delle tecniche naturali e della produzione. Tutti i vigneti godono di una posizione ottimale. Vitigni autoctoni: il Moscato di Canelli e il Barbera d’Asti per vini semplici, schietti, tradizionali, come nello stile di una famiglia che crede nel territorio e in prodotti della terra frutto di una grande passione. His nickname «Giaj» (in Piedmont dialect means “red-haired”)helped future generations to identify wines with a unique character, indissolubly linked to the quality of their area of origin. The strong attachment to their roots and the will to assert a precise and independent identity, have brought first Carlo and then Luciano and Giancarlo Amerio to suggest their own tradition and their personal style. With this in mind, they have established the family farm which is located in the old Sant’Antonio farmhouse premises. The special attention to the vine, a very health-conscious harvesting technique for each grape and a vinification which adheres to the most modern techniques are just some of the characteristics linked to these high quality wines. Ten hectares of vineyards give value to the Moscato «Cà dù Giaj», Barbera d’Asti «Cà dù Giaj» and Oubliè «Cà dù Giaj». The heart of the winery, which has its cellars in Canelli, is Sant’Antonio farmhouse.
