TORELLE

Our is a small company located on the slopes of the Roccamonfina Volcano, 250 meters above sea level. In front of us the Gulf of Gaeta, from here come winds from the sea that allow us to cultivate our grapes entirely organic.
With its material, consisting of volcanic sands mixed with pumice and lava fragments, it has covered a vast territory, generating soils rich in microelements and giving an uncommon fertility to the land.
We are in the production area of Falerno wine, already well known and appreciated in Roman times.
Falerno became so precious that it was used as a sign of social distinction. Decanted as a wine as sought after as expensive in late republican and imperial Rome.
So says the engraving on the wall of a taberna, found in Pompeii : "here you drink for 1 axis; if you pay 2, you will drink a better wine; with 4, you will have Falerno wine".

The company consists of 16 hectares and we vinify in purity two types of grapes: aglianico and falanghina, two native grapes of Campania.
we produce four types of wines: one white wine, Falanghina IGP Roccamonfina, one rosè and two red wines, Aglianico IGP Roccamonfina and Falerno del Massico.
Falanghina is produced using two different Falanghina clones, the native one of the Phlegraean fields, an active volcanic area in the province of Naples, and the Benevento clone. The first is sapid, mineral and elegant, low in alcohol, the second has a greater structure and higher alcohol. Using both clones we have an incredible balance.
The rosé is 100% aglianico vinified as white grapes. Whole grapes in press, with very low yields to reach such a clear color. . A very light wine is expected from the color, whereas the structure of the Aglianico grape is felt. I wanted to amaze and play with those who drink our rosé.
The Falerno del Massico DOC produced entirely from aglianico grapes. We only use bunches from a vineyard with very low yields.
The peculiarity of this wine is the refinement which lasts 5 years, two of which in steel, two in large oak barrels and one in the bottle. The result is surprising because despite the long refinement, our Falerno manages to maintain unaltered acidity, freshness and minerality.
The Aglianico IGP Roccamonfina wants to be a young and easy-drinking wine. The grapes are processed in order to have a soft and slightly aggressive tannin. Aging takes place in steel for 5 months and in French oak barrels for 3 months.
