Vigne Mastrodomenico

The Winery , located in Barile, carved out of the rock guarantees a constant, ideal temperature for ageing wine. Passion and extreme care are an integral part of the artisanal and largely manual winemaking processes.
Donato Mastrodomenico, agronomist, evaluation and agricultural technologies lecturer, passionate connoisseur of wines and viticulture has realised the true vocation of the family lands that had previously only produced wine from one part of the property.
In 1999, he planted eight hectares of Aglianico del Vulture vineyards on the western slope of Monte Vulture near the protected area around the Rendina dam in the Rapolla countryside.
The Mastrodomenico family is supported by the experience of oenologist Cristoforo Pastore, who interprets the authenticity and typicity of Aglianico del Vulture for the company.
The volcano, which emerged back in the mists of time, has played host to various peoples who settled in the lands of Basicilicata thanks to the fertility of its soils. The ancient people of Hellenic origin, LIKI, gave birth to the history of Aglianico wine in Basilicata. They planted an ancient Mediterranean grape variety on the fertile slopes of the by then extinct volcano. This ruby red grape expresses the powerful and intense character of the Terre del Vulture.
LIKOS is the first label of Vigne Mastrodomemico. A well-structured and powerful wine, which is, at the same time, harmonious and elegant. Produced from high-quality grapes coming exclusively from the company’s vineyard, it has enviable ageing potential in the cellar. Thanks to its amazing elegance, it was described by Jancis Robinson Times as “an iron fist in a velvet glove”. Other wine is Mos, Igt Basilicata. The name, from the Latin “Mos-Mores”, recalls the origins and traditions of our ancestors who have always cultivated the land. It is the genuine fruit of our work and perfectly represents the typicity of Aglianico grown on the slopes of Vulture. It reflects this in its intriguing drinkability, which is characterised by dynamism and freshness. Finally we have Fonte del Ceraso . Rosato Igt Basilicata. It takes its name from an ancient spring located near the vineyards in a large valley called “Ceraso Valley”. Many everyday activities took place near this spring, so we’d like to remember our roots with this name, just like the oak shown on the label.
