Anibal de Otero viña centenaria
This single-plot wine comes from our most prized vineyard, “Los Fornos”, which has been lovingly attended by many generations of the family. The terroir is a south-facing slope facing the river valley with clay and slate soil. In summer the vineyard is dotted by wild oregano and blackberries, which we respect as part of our sustainable winemaking philosophy. In this beautiful setting you can find our treasure of ungrafted 130+-year-old vines of mencia. They produce exceptional grapes with very low yield, less than 0.5 kg per vine! Maximum respect to the grape is our top priority. We apply ecological viticulture following traditional methods with no mechanisation. 14 months of ageing in fine-grained French oak and maturation in our cellars for at least 3 years complete the process. The result is this very special wine, which we’re sure you’ll enjoy: complex and powerful, elegant and sensuous. Transparent reflection of the landscape of “los Fornos”, and true soul of Bierzo.
