Former dependency of the abbey of Cîteaux, Chambolle-Musigny has two superb Grands Crus: Bonnes-Mares and Musigny, at the top of Clos de Vougeot. The terroir of Chambolle-Musigny is exceptional!
Chambolle-Musigny often presented as the most "feminine" red wine of the Côte de Nuits. The intensity and finesse are indeed expressed with elegant subtlety. Violet, small red fruits (strawberry, raspberry) make up its bouquet of marked typicity. Older, it evolves towards ripe spicy fruit, prune, or towards truffle, undergrowth and animal. Rich, aromatic and complex, this wine lines the palate with silk and lace. Its fleshy delicacy does not prevent it from retaining a solid structure, with supple tannins.
It pairs perfectly with tasty and sophisticated meats such as game birds, in sauce for example, a Bresse capon, lamb or veal that has been roasted for a long time.
For cheeses, prefer those with a mild flavor such as Brillat-Savarin, Reblochon, Cîteaux, Vacherin, Brie de Meaux or Chaource.
