Prestigioso vitigno autoctono di antica eccellenza dell’isola, con il suo  elevato  contenuto di elementi antiossidanti, lo  rendono importante  per gli  elevati effetti  benefici sull’organismo umano.
Il Perricone, oggi presente in piccole quantità e quasi esclusivamente  nella Sicilia occidentale, trova il  suo  etimo  nella  parola  “Pignatello”  che  pare  derivi  dalle  “pignatidare”,  ossia  le   terre  rosse alluminose  tipiche  del  marsalese,  altamente  vocate  alla  coltivazione  di  questo  vitigno.

Perricone, now present in small quantities and almost exclusively in the western Sicily, finds its etymology in the word "Pignatello" which apparently derives from "pignatidare", ie the red soil typical of Marsala aluminous, highly suited to the cultivation of this variety.
