Fattoria La Ripa is situated between San Donato in Poggio and Castellina in Chianti. It belongs to S.A.Santa Brigida, a property of Caramelli family since 1941, when Ferruccio, textile and movie industrialist, purchased it. From the 70’s it has been managed by his son Sandro. From 2009 Sandro’s son Nicolas, oenologist and winemaker, graduated at Florence University and at Bordeaux University, then specialized at Château Palmer in Margaux, took over the technical management. During the 1400’s La Ripa was owned by Anton Maria di Noldo Gherardini, father of Lisa, Monna Lisa of Leonardo da Vinci, and La Ripa became part of her dowry for her marriage to Francesco del Giocondo in 1495. La Ripa is a certified organic property from 2006 and, therefore, from 2002 it is managed strictly following the rules of the organic farming. The wines produced at La Ripa are entirely aged and bottled in the cellars of the property
