LENARDON BRUNO WINES

Lenardon is a winery located in Muggia that deals with the production of Extra Virgin Olive oil and native wine.
Our family has been producing olive oil and wine for over 100 years. Due to the great cold of 1929, all our olive trees died. From the remaining stumps grown up the sprouts that the grandfather took care of with dedication to give birth and grow new plants, which are now almost 90 years old.
After the Second World War, with the definition of the borders, the only remaining oil mill was located in Yugoslav territory, so the olives were pressed in the nearest oil mill, in Bassano del Grappa. Fortunately, in the 70s, an old oil mill was restored in S. Dorligo della Valle which, in the 80s, was replaced with a new and more modern one.

The province of Trieste has an olive-growing history of over 2000 years, as evidenced by an old oil mill from the Roman era that came to light during excavations in the old city. During the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the olive oil from the province of Trieste was highly appreciated and brought to the court of Vienna. In the municipality of Muggia in 1833, as reported in the Franceschino cadastre, three oil mills operated within the town walls and two outside.
This area is very suitable for the cultivation of olives and vines as the cold winds of the Karst plateau, the hot Istrian sun and the sea breeze of the Gulf of Trieste generate a very positive microclimate.
